Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}18/HR.9.12.38. re CHASSIS NO. B.110-LS. F.{Mr Friese} A.{Mr Adams} Hall, Esq. ------------------- We note the contents of your C5/C.8.12.38., and the history of Mr. Hall's complaints concerning the steering on his various cars is quite correct. We should emphasise that in so far as his present car is concerned he has made very little complaint, in fact, the only time he has mentioned it to us was, as you say, when the car was sent to us for accident repairs, that is, in his letter dated the 11th July last he said that when turning the steering wheel slowly to the left he noticed a suspicion of slipping. This was found to be due to the steering requiring tightening on the frame and dashboard. Beyond this he has made no further mention of the steering. One rather wonders how far his complaint is influenced by the knowledge that a new type of steering has been introduced on M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} series. We can only suggest that we send a man over for the car so that we can give it a thorough test here and do anything we can to make the steering perfectly normal. It is possible that the tyres have something to do with the complaint, as one of our mechanics noticed last month that the car was fitted with John Bull tyres at the front and Indias at the rear. The complaint on his previous cars was not of steering wobble but road shocks being transmitted back to the steering wheel. Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} | ||
