HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X7820 OA2/M6.3.31. X.7520. X.235. P. 2. SHOCK DAMPERS. Referring to HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KT4331., and HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/R7/KT4331., we agree to the programme you propose. We understand that you do not want the stiffer shafts and big square but are content with the split piston and modified intermediate lever. We suggest however that since R.{Sir Henry Royce} has abandoned the type of split piston shewn on M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} sch. 3225. it would be preferable - unless you have made some way with that piston - to concentrate on M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} sch. 3351. which represents what he now prefers. We entirely agree to your fitting up P. 2. dampers front and rear on a 25H.P. and shall be glad to see the car as soon as available. With reference to P. 2. front dampers, though we will proceed as soon as possible to apply the rear damper for that purpose, we think there may be a fair amount of development required before we shall get a satisfactory scheme of the axle control, and suggest that you should not wait for it.
