Typed: -2- I find that driving the Ph.III in heavy traffic sends the thermometer up to 100°. I am afraid we shall get customers complaining of this when they are doing shopping or traffic work in London. The drive groan is still an unpleasant feature on quite a number of cars and one would welcome the fitting of the damper if this could be done without disadvantage. Nothing has been done so far to improve the slow running and popping on the 25/30 HP., but I understand the Experimental Dept. are tackling this feature. The engine gears, both on the 25/30 HP. and the Bentley, I note from RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}'s report, are having investigation. During the hot weather we have had several cases of Bentley brakes squeaking and the cars have been sent to K.{Mr Kilner} for attention to this matter. From the driving point of view, the efficiency of the 25/30 HP. brakes, as a general rule, is not as good as the Bentley. With regard to the stove-enamelling on the cylinder heads, I have arranged with RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} that I will notify him of a bad case and he will send someone down to inspect it or let me have a new cylinder head. The Bentleys now coming on test will have the increased clearance on the accelerator pedal shaft. JLE.{J.
