X.4462 c to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Re. Messrs India Tyre & Rubber Co, Ltd. Inchinnan, Scotland. ----------- Some little time ago Mr. John Cooper, whom I have now known for many years, wrote and told me of a new tire which his firm were about to manufacture in this country, and claimed great wearing qualities for the same. I forwarded one of his letters to Bt{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} who I believe sent it on to the Experimental Department at W. Later I was given to understand that our Experimental Department was prepared to test a set of the India Tyres subject to certain conditions. It would further seem that Mr. Cooper requested us to sell his firm one of our standard Dunlop wheels and covers. Yesterday I had a letter from him telling me of the receipt of this wheel and cover and mentioning that his people were hopeful of being able to design a cover which would be as silent as the Dunlop and a much more effective non-skid - both against wheel spinning and side skidding. Mr. Cooper raised one very small point, namely the question of charge for the wheel and cover. He said that apparently we had charged full retail price for the same. He does not wish to make heavy weather about this, but merely raises it as he fancies there must be some misunderstanding. I imagine this is a clerical mistake, because doubt-less we would be prepared to supply a wheel and cover at trade price to the India Tyre & Rubber Co. in the same way that we should expect them to supply their covers to us at trade prices. Perhaps you will kindly go into this matter so that any mistake can be rectified. Cr.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} 5.9.28. | ||
