Your Ref:Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}1/R 10th March, 1937 Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., (Experimental Dept.), DERBY. Dear Sirs, We have to acknowledge your letter of the 8th inst. and also confirm our telephone conversation of to-day concerning the lining with "Satco" of the bearings we hold for you. Acting upon your special instructions, we are holding the lining of the Connecting Rod bearings and will proceed with the lining of the Main bearings as soon as we have your drawings showing us where we have to carry metal over the flanges. We note your remarks in the third paragraph in which you advise us that the bench test shows very little improvement with "Z3" as compared with your normal White Metal. Of course, unless failure of some sort has actually occurred on the bench there would be very little to indicate preference for one or the other. We should expect to find that over a period mileage test the advantage of No. "Z3" will make itself apparent, and we await your further news in due course in this connection. Remaining at your service, We are, dear Sirs, Yours faithfully, THE HOYT METAL OF GREAT BRITAIN, LIMITED A.J. Moore. TECHNICAL DEPT. PRICES SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
