Hm {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} /PHA from Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} c.to EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} [STAMP: RECEIVED] X/7D86 Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 4/NJ21.2.27. Chassis GYK-40. Allington. O {Mr Oldham} /85965. I confirm mine Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} /JT20/HP3.2.27. We are now in receipt of a full report from the Chloride Electrical Storage Co.Ltd. on the battery removed from the above-mentioned chassis and returned to them, as follows:- "We wrote you on the 2nd inst. in connection with the 6 XL 3-4 battery which you returned ex chassis GYK-40, the reason for returning it being that your Mr.Clarke had found that one of the cells was not uniform with the others, and we explained to you in our letter that we had put the battery on test in preference to opening it up and inspecting the elements. "We have carefully tested the battery including discharge tests at various rates, and open circuit tests and we find that the battery is quite in order. Actually one of the cells does shew a very slight difference to the others, but the variation is extremely small, and the whole battery gives well over the rated capacity. We should be extremely glad, therefore, if you could give us some further information, and we shouldlike to hear in what way the battery proved to be unsatisfactory, for we are rather doubtful as to whether it would be returned to us on account of the barely noticeable difference which we recorded. Until we hear from you therefore we will hold the battery at these Works, as we are naturally anxious for the matter to be thoroughly investigated. Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} | ||
