E.7/HP.6.9.38.
Running of 27-G-V1 on the Continent.
Further to my report E.1/HP.2.9.38, there are two points that require amplification. The first is in connection with the degree of detonation experienced, in connection with which I now understand this car had the fixed ignition adjusted 1" earlier than the standard position on the flywheel.
The second point is that I stated in error that the engine was fitted with suction control to the advance. The ignition point is definitely fixed and the phenomena described cannot therefore, be accounted for by any change in the advance when opening up.
