R R 25A a 100 T To Bysm from Ck.{Mr Clark} c. to Mr. Brock. c.c. C.O. X.2512 Ck{Mr Clark}1/T20.2.20. X.2512 - CONDENSERS We have electrically examined and tested the dozen condensers supplied to us by the Salford Electrical Co. with the following results. The capacities are uniformly low. The limits we gave to them were .19 to .23 mf. and we find the capacities to be as follows :- (1) .197 (7) .208 (2) .188 (8) .197 (3) .182 (9) .201 (4) .193 (10) .206 (5) .205 (11) .192 (6) .212 (12) .179 You will see from this that three are below the lower limit given. If the S.E. Co. are going to supply us with condensers, we would suggest asking them to increase the number of plates by 6 or 7%. Regarding our high voltage testing, we first of all put each condenser on 200 volts for one minute and they all easily stood this light treatment. We next put them on 350 volts (R.M.S.) for one minute each. Under these circumstances one, namely No.6, broke down almost immediately (after 10 seconds). All the others stood this test. After this, the condensers were all put in turn on 400 volts and were subjected to this voltage being flashed on and off. Condensers Nos.3,8,9 and 12 stood many repetitions of Contd. | ||
