Re. 3 1/2 Litre Bentley Piston Failures.

We have just received a telephone message from Hancock that he has reproduced the piston failure on the car which has been running on Brooklands. The car has completed 1,050 miles.

Hancock describes the failure as far as he can see it, as similar to the one in France. The car is being returned by train.

As Brooklands appears to be the best place to produce these failures we are arranging to make full use of the track. We are hoping to send another car down again tomorrow fitted with the Aerolite type piston. We expect on either Monday or Tuesday next to be able to send a car down with the improved H.M. piston. The track normally closes on November 4th but we are trying to make special arrangements so that we can continue to use it, as from the results so far obtained for the piston trouble we think it is infinitely better test ground than France.
