LAUNCHING WINCH

Gentleman,

With reference to the visit to Oxford with a representative of the C.L.E., in connection with the towing winch you are at present designing, please find herewith confirmation of additions and alterations to the existing specification.

There is no doubt that the original specification is a very loose one, possibly due to lack of information and data at the time, and also to the fact that the introduction was carried out in a hurried way. However, it would be appreciated if as many as possible of the points suggested could be introduced at this stage, and confirmation as to which you will be able to introduce without delaying production would oblige.

MODIFICATIONS TO REQUIREMENT

1. The mean speed and pull to be as per original specification but provision should be made for maximum variation in gear ratio and drum diameters. This is the best way to meet the recent changes in the design of the first series of T.C. gliders and the lack of reliable data regarding speed and pull required.
