To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/IMW.{Ivan M. Waller - Head of Chateauroux} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. Chateauroux. 600a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.8/MH.{M. Huckerby}10.3.38. We are despatching to you a steam valve to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}417 (attached is print of same) fitted with steam escape pipe, together with studs for same. Will you please fit this to 26.G.VI car by removing the escape pipe and flange studs and fitting the new pieces. The studs are sweated into the back flange and may be difficult to move. If so heat judiciously applied to the studs themselves may assist matters. It is important not to melt the solder by which the back flange is sweated to the tank. Will you then please let us know whether with this valve fitted you can run with a higher water level in the top tank. If so, what is the maximum steady level which can be maintained.
