CHILDS 6132 To Div c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Do you agree with the last remark BY/RD.5/B. 28.9.37. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} AMMETERS. In order to eliminate any further trouble on ammeters, the representatives of the Weston Electrical Instrument Co.Ltd., Messrs. Davidge and Tapsell visited these Works, when faulty ammeters were shown to them, together with samples taken from production stock, one of which was faulty when opened up. Both of these gentlemen have recently joined the Weston Electrical Instrument Co., which has totally been re-organised, and we are assured that no effort will be spared to remove the various causes of trouble which we have reported from time to time. It is proposed to deal with the ammeter question in two stages :- a) Improvement of insulation of the main terminal together with a locking device on the main winding joint to be provided, and sample of which will be available in 8 - 10 days, and if we give our immediate approval, to commence on production 14 days from today. All stock at these Works to be returned to Weston Electrical to have the improvement embodied, and to be identified by a spot of red paint on the back. b) Re-design the magnetic portion of the ammeter, its case and fixing but retain the existing needle, dial and air damper. These re-designed parts to be considered with a view to materially reducing the cost of these instruments, with a view to obtaining greater reliability and easier manufacture. -Contd- | ||
