X.3563 E4/G7.1.20. To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. " " Bn.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} " " Oy. " " Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X.3563. RE SYLPHON UNIT FOR WATER TEMPERATURE " " Ck.{Mr Clark} REGULATOR - 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS. We send you herewith blue print No. 3548 of the Fulton Company, instruction No. 98.R., which should have been attached to our previous memo E1/G6.1.20. With further reference to this unit, there are two other faults on the Fulton Company's drawing, of which Mr. Olley has already been informed, and which should receive attention in the instructions regarding the modified unit LeC.1184. In the length shewn on the blue print 3548 there should be .075" clearance from the fully compressed stop position, this clearance being required to enable the main valve of the water regulator to seat. Secondly, the metal of the bellows tubing should be in its normal unstressed condition at half stroke. This is desired with the view of limiting the stress range in the bellows tube metal to the smallest possible amount. The Fulton Company's drawing makes no mention of this condition and shews the tube in its normal unstressed condition at the very commencement of the stoke. Attached to Mr. Olley's copy of this memo, is copy of contract and license agreement with the Fulton Company, which he forwarded for our inspection.
