Technical note on curing engine magneto rattles using different spring settings and materials.

copy of card. Y.430 15.4.11. 900 ENGINE MAGNETO RATTLES. Can be cured by having very slack slipper wheel i.e., 4 springs not adjusted tightly, but this allows crank to vibrate at higher speeds. The noise can be somewhat prevented by having 4 50 lbs. springs in spring drive. The movement of the spring drive with 4.50 lbs. springs is .030" on the driving side and .008" on the retard (tested with soft copper).
