LOOKING FROM THE ENGINE (BACKWARDS.) SKETCH 5. Fixed stops. 1st. always thus, 2nd. & 3rd. sometimes thus, & sometimes thus. Also 3rd. must be held by the pawls positively from moving backwards. Light brake for pulling up annuli & controlling pawls. Fixed. Brake operating. After the brake has pulled up the ring if going the same way as the engine it will reverse, and as there is nothing to stop it it will move to the extent of the stops andallow the pawl to engage when a notch passes. | ||
