SKETCH 6. Before the pawls are engaged a light brake is put upon the annulus. Reverse. 1st. & 2nd. Annuli. Fixed on box. Actuating shaft. This shews the double pawls equalised (balanced) and synchronised in actuation. Torque communicated to box at these wide centres. For the synchro-mesh idea weshould need brakes only, but with the Salerni these might not be needed. | ||
