Description: FRONT BRAKE DAMPER. (Gordon-Armstrong Hydraulic Damper)

Purpose: To provide a more consistant way of preventing brake thumps and to simplify the brake system.

Brief Report and Remarks:
Fitted to 25.G.VI and 29.G.VI and will be fitted to Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s. car 27.G.VI.
An identical damper has run in France on 8.B.V. (which has done 11,000 miles so far) thus proving its endurance. The damper is actually designed for the more arduous duty of suspension damping.
The damper replaces the brake idler lever on the engine, the swinging arm friction damper, and the servo-reverse link rubber.

When recommended for Introduction: 1st. car in 'C' series.

Decrease in Cost £0.4.10. G/RL 13/1/39.

Production Position and Comments:
Cost of Tools £16.0.0.
The Gordon Armstrong Hydraulic Front Brake Damper to prevent brake thumps and simplify the brake system has been instructed for the 1st. chassis in 'C' series and involves scrapping parts surplus to 'A' and 'B' series, value £0.10.0d.
A tool cost of £16.0.0d. is involved but there is a decrease in Factory cost of 4/10d. per chassis.
The combined cost of tools and surplus parts value £16.10.0d. will thus be recovered after producing 68 chassis, i.e. at the 68th. chassis in 'g' series. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}
