Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}3./MH.{M. Huckerby} GFY/ES. 1st September, 1938. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} File Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 31st ult. and very much regret to have your complaint that the valve springs EB.3256 which we supply to you appear to be weak on the load test. We have re-tested all the springs which you rejected recently on various of our Avery spring testing machines, and the worst spring which we could find was 3/4 lb. stronger than the minimum load specified on your drawing. It is evident, therefore, that there is some discrepancy in our actual load testing, which confirms the experience of the Writer when he called upon you last week and saw your spring testing equipment. We are putting through a further batch of these valve springs working to a slightly higher load. Should these still prove to be weak on your load testing machine when they are received, we shall be very much obliged if you will inform us so that the Writer may call upon you and discuss the matter further. Assuring you of our best attention at all times, We are, Yours faithfully, The Tempered Spring Co. Ltd. Gerard R.{Sir Henry Royce} Young. Director. | ||
