1153 1330 Chassis To: Vs.{J. Vickers} from Glasgow, from Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8/h.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 28.3.44. Thank you for your Vs.{J. Vickers} 8/MF. 27.3.44. The firm who are making the Turbo Transmitter have approached Birmingham Aluminium, who have jumped at the chance of making the transmitter for them, and are going into it with all-enthusiasm. I asked the Managing Director whether, under these circumstances, it was worth our going into competition with these people, and his reply was that he was anxious to get an alternative source of supply. I think that, generally speaking, he will endeavour to supply complete torque converters to the trade and, therefore, the volume of business may be quite considerable. In any event, I think we should want to make our own converters even if it was under licence from the Company, in order to keep as much work as possible in our own Factory. I will try and arrange to bring the model and the blue-prints North in the immediate future. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
