WORM AXLE. (1) 68th Meeting Re Back Axle. 31st October. Mr. Nadin submitted a letter received from Mr. Johnson saying that we must push on at once with the two proposed forms of back axle, i.e. double bevel axle and worm axle. Mr. Bailey promised to report on this matter to-morrow. 72nd Meeting Re Worm Axles. Nov. 8th.11. Mr. Bailey explained to the Committee that he had gone into the matter of fitting a worm axle on to the present car, and found that there was difficulty in this because the design of the car had been for the inclined transmission, and the worm axle would throw the springs further back, thus we could not get sufficient clearance in the joint to allow this. The Committee suggested that Mr. Spinney should be asked to consider a design for fitting the worm axle to one of our experimental chassis, 1718 is the most convenient. 73rd Meeting Re Worm Gears. Nov. 13.11. Mr. Nadin informed the Committee that the two sets of worm gears from the Albro-Clem Co. of America were promised for shipment on Nov. 14. | ||
