Re Testing of the Worm Axle.

Mr. Wormald informed the Committee that he did not consider we were progressing as rapidly as we should with regard to the testing of the worm axle. He had taken great pains to press the manufacture of the axle forward and could definitely promise that it would be completed that day, but in conversation with Mr. Spinney he understood that there was no chassis either ready or in process of manufacture.

Mr. Nadin said that he had discussed the matter with Mr. Spinney that morning, and that he had arranged for the worm axle to be fitted up in a special chassis together with a standard engine and gearbox. This would necessitate the frame being scrapped after the axle had been tested.

Mr. Spinney was called in, and in the ensuing conversation it appeared that there had been some misunderstanding with regard to the instructions issued to the axle and chassis departments. This matter was cleared up, and the Committee decided that the best course to adopt would be to fitthe worm axle to a chassis containing the new marine
