To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} X.4 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 8/KT. 21.7.33. TIMING GEAR RATTLES - 20/25 HP. Referring to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/E.20.7.33. on the above subject. We have for some time past put timing gear rattles item No.1 on our programme of work for the Bentley car. We have half a dozen experiments in hand (which include three of those mentioned in E.4/HP.30.5.33), two of which are at present on test. Any improvements we make on the Bentley will be applicable to the 20/25. In the meantime, however, in view of the service complaints on cars at present being manufactured, we will make investigations to see if any minor modifications can be made to help the present production position.
