contd:- -3- the very fine gauze. It was pointed out long ago, it was only to be considered as a strainer and filled with gauze about 30 per inch. I cannot understand our fitting anything different to that proved on the 40/50, which should be suitable for this engine also. Bonnet. The support of the Bonnet, requires attention. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} has found this to be at spots - metal to metal only near the hinge joints. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} and By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will please see that this fault is met, the dead eye for the centre hinge on the dash should be solid with the tie rod fitting. Slots on Undershielding. Mud drives up through the slots for the pendulum lever and exhaust pipe - these might have extra protection or apron etc. Heat from engine. This seems to be quite good. We have had one or two hot sunny middays when the worst heat was the direct sun on the driver. Radiator seems right in size but in cold climates it is evidently necessary for protection to have automatic louvres as in descending a long hill the water cools to a very low temperature. Body. We have now raised the front seats up 2½" by packings under the wood frame upon which the cushions rest - (therefore, there will be ample room here for tool tray as favoured by me) except that the front cushions are too long and should have the outer corners rounded. The body, splashers etc. are excellent for a useful light and fast car, with comfort. R/Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
