The new petrol tank with the vent on the top of the tank has the following faults :- 1. If the tank is filled to the top, which frequently happens, the petrol runs out of the vent all over the petrol tank. If the car happens to be on the camber of the road, this occurs easily when filling up. 2. When the tank is reasonably full and the car is driven over a rough road, the washing of the petrol in the tank splashes it out of the vent. 3. The holes in the vent at the present time do not allow air to escape quickly enough for the tank to be filled up rapidly from a petrol pump. It would appear that we ought to modify the vent, before this tank with the new filler gauge and reserve compartment can be adopted. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
