676. X6056. 12-2-31. J.O.118 X4671 Young 2. Battery. (175) This battery is now 2 years 3 months old & has run 15,165 miles on the road. One of the lead burnt up connectors was fractured on the completion of this mileage. The bench tests taken at intervals have been reasonably good. No 3 cell failed after being in the M.S. 4 months & has been opened up for examination The negative plates are in good condition but the paste was hard due to the presence of sulphate. The positive plates were poor having lost a large amount of paste & practically all of this was loose in the grid in the form of hard pellets. The grids are of a very open mesh having the apices of the prongs facing outboard. The design is not good from a paste retaining point of view. (cont'd) | ||
