(8) CARBURETTOR FLOAT FEED (CONTD.) -6- E6/G1/5/19. understood, scraps the existing floatchamber casting. It is thought that the same fitting in a slightly different form can be made to provide a detachable seat without scrapping the cast- ings already made of the floatchambers, and Mr. Bailey will pre- pare a design dealing with this point. X.3461 ✓ (9) SHOCK DAMPERS.- There is no prospect of getting the rear shock dampers of the progressive type finished for the first of the 500 chassis, but they will be standardised as soon as possible. The front shock dampers are to have the larger size of ball for their connecting links, while the connection to the axle is to be simplified into a cantilever ball, as explained in a separate note to Mr. Bailey. X.3458 ✓ (10) BACK AXLE AND BRAKES.- It is understood that some parts have been removed from the back axle, such as distance tubes, etc. to reduce weight, and that the experimental cars are running about in this modified form. It is further understood that aluminium alloy will be used for the foot brake shoes, but not for the shoes on the hand lever brake. X.3129.✓ X.3445✓ (11) IGNITION - It is understood from Mr. Hives that the non- trembler aero coil, in being applied to the 40/50 H.P. chassis has been altered to have lugs on the side of the coil box for attachment to the dash, and that these alterations have been com- pleted. This scheme has apparently never been submitted to Mr. Royce for approval. The question of the condenser being located in the (Contd.) | ||
