R.R. ptg 807 (W 190-250-1-12) O.{Mr Oldham} 14811 524 ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To 19 Order No. Customer's No. Re There is not known to be any definite advantage in efficiency in either class. It would seem that worms whose thread were 14 1/2° obliquity on forward side and 30° on reverse could be made of greater efficiency than either having the advantage of each without corresponding disadvantage. Possibly making the flanks slightly concave instead of straight (Lanchester type) tends to distribute the contact better across the teeth. You will see from diagrams herewith it is very uneven in ordinary worm gearing. Signed This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
