Reder WRAITH 111 and BENTLEY 111. OIL SEAL FOR VALVE SPRING TOP WASHER. Please receive herewith :- E.CD.846 Modified Valve Spring Washer with Oil Seal - Wraith 111 and Bentley 111. This design is a development of the scheme suggested and tried out by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} on a Wraith 111 engine with a view to preventing oil from rockers flowing past the split in the retaining wedges of the valve spring top washers and then down the valve guides, causing the engine to smoke when starting up after a short stop. It is proposed to fit these washers to the Bentley 111 engine for the car, which will shortly be leaving for test in France. Will you please detail and instruct accordingly.
