104H H.S. (struck through) C. Hm.{Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} GIRY BY.4/G.11.3.38. 800. BENTLEY 50. SPECIFICATION AND PROGRAMME. I attach hereto copy of Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}5/G.10.3.38. I am sending you the information exactly as received from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} in order that you may be as fully informed as I am myself. The position is that all of the important parts will be detailed and issued by the end of March, and even the small stuff will be completely cleared early in April. In regard to the rear axle, whilst this is going forward, and I am pressing its completion, this will not be a factor in the first Bentley 50. In view of the information conveyed, would you kindly let me have a date at which you consider you will have a chassis complete, the rest of the stuff being standard Bentley lll. A body will be available by the end of the first week in May (May 7th). I am desirous of revising the programme which I previously gave to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, which, however, was purely a provisional one, and would therefore like to have the information called for as soon as possible. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} [signature] | ||
