For the attention of Mr. Hanbury.

Dear Sirs,

Many thanks for your letter of the 29th.

My letter to Mr. Hives was rather a long one as it included not only the details that I should like to see carried out now but the failures that have occurred over the last month. As I have not got a spare copy, I do not think we need worry about it, but I will just summarize the points that I would like done.

(1) Stone guard replaced under nearside front wing. I am afraid this will necessitate a new one as the old one is damaged beyond repair.

(2) Reduction in the front axle pivot lean or "caster".

(3) The amount of "wind up" reduced. I went into this in some detail in my letter to Derby, but I do not know, of course, to what extent they are in agreement with my proposals.

(4) Elimination of the occasional thump which occurs when idling.

(5) Eliminate the detonation or "pinking" which occurs even with Discol fuel from 2000 to 3000 revs. This is presumably not due to the spark being too far advanced as it is necessary to retard to a point at which an appreciable reduction in power occurs, before it disappears. I may say that I purchased a new set of K.L.G. 850 plugs but this did not get over the difficulty. I also had the old plugs examined by K.L.G. who could not find anything wrong with them.
