Copy. PLANNING DEPARTMENT The Duties of this department are:- 1. Scrutinising of scheme and detail drawings from a production point of view. (2) Preparation of machining operations, forging drawings and operation drawings. (3) Typing and distribution of operation lists, notifying changes etc. (4) Completing L.O.P's (size and description of material). (5) Instruction of Tool Drawing Office in connection with tooling requirements, cancellation and standardisation of components etc. and ordering of blueprints for Tool D.O.. (6) Recording of Tool Drawing numbers on operation lists and tracings. PROCEDURE - EXPERIMENTAL STAGE. SCHEME DRAWINGS N. schemes, LeC's and EX. Schemes are received together with a copy of the explanatory memo. No action is taken by the Planning Dept. on schemes not intended for future production. The remaining scheme drawings are carefully scrutinised from a production point of view by TB. and his planning engineers and suggestions offered to the responsible design authority. DETAIL DRAWINGS. To deal with points made evident by detailing and to ensure that no unnecessary production expense is introduced at this stage, the Planning Dept. is supplied with the drawing of each component as soon as a section is prepared.
