that the final test can only be carried out on the car under service conditions.

You will recollect that in the early days of our testing, owing to the over-night loss in hot weather, everything pointed to our wanting the most vigorous pumping action possible.

To assist this, it is now proposed to take the pumping tubes as near as possible to atmospheric air. We feel confident, however, that the vigorous pumping conditions will not be obtained with the tank unit placed at the distance it is from the main baffle.

We have assumed that it would upset your arrangements to move this main baffle in relation to the flange fixing on the tank. Furthermore, the flange fixing from an appearance and other points of view, should remain at the same distance off centre as the petrol feed arrangements, so that these two points appear to be fixed in relation to one another.

We would suggest, however, that it would be quite feasible and would cost very little in original manufacture, to introduce a curved Telegage surge baffle, fixed on the main baffle before it is put into the tank.

We do not think it would interfere with the tank construction in any way, and we are accordingly including with the tank on its return to you, a mock-up of part of a main baffle with the Telegage surge
