With reference to your BY/Cgh{W Clough}17/C23.12.29. we now take it that the instructions are final and are arranging for Depots and Coachbuilders to be instructed accordingly. As discussed with you today, I am still not satisfied that the subframes we are sending out are satisfactory. It is certainly made clear to the coachbuilders that the datum line for fitting subframes on to the frame is the centre fixing stop, and this does not seem to be the datum point for our final inspection of the subframes. I still consider that to do this job properly, as we suggested in the first place, all subframes prior to delivery from the Works should be tested on a standard dummy chassis frame and all chassis frames should be tested with a standard dummy subframe. This you will remember I recommended in my memo. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1C/H26.9.29. and EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}8/H10.9.29. We tell Coachbuilders to do it & yet not do it ourselves. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} | ||
