The new cars are not free from it. The causes have been reported to the Expt. Dept. and to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer}

Brake thumps which are chiefly the result of an inefficient servo will be minimised by the introduction of a more consistent friction on the swinging arm of the servo mechanism and the improved servo. Pulling to the right or left is a feature that cannot be entirely overcome. Apart from oil, the efficiency of the brake liners vary.

Rear brakes actuating shaft seizing is having the attention of By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to improve the lubrication.

2) Knock & rattle from front axle control bracket.
There were 44 complaints during the March quarter at Kingsbury. An improved design has been produced by the Expt. Dept. but has not been tested.

3) Petrol Pumps.
As reported on the 30 HP. the pumps are not satisfactory. There were 46 pumps changed at Kingsbury. At the Paris Depot the proportion is the same. The Continental firms who fit electrical pumps, do not have the troubles we experience. They fit a pump either on the tank or at the rear which over-comes heat trouble & noise. The S.U. are now endeavouring to produce a pump for fitting to the rear. The present pumps, they will not guarantee although the Expt. Dept. have successfully used the pumps fitted in the rear.

4) Oil Leaking from Rear Axle Tube Flanges.
The bolts holding the two halves of the casing would appear to stretch, tightening up of these bolts and the tube flange bolts cures the leak. The one piece centre case has not shown up these faults.

5) Noisy Rear Axle Gears.
This trouble is chiefly due to the old type thrust bearing. With the new type GB.2035 bearing there has been no complaints.

6) Clutches.
There was 165 various complaints of clutches at Kingsbury and 35 at Paris during the last six months. 50% of these are slipping and burning out. All the tests of the Borg & Beck clutch has been proof against slipping or excessive wear, & with the cure of jaggering, clutch trouble should be at a minimum.

7) Knock in Transmission Road Wheel Driving Dogs.
With the exception of fitting tighter driving dogs, there has not been any alteration to the design. With the advent of the 4.1/4 litre Bentley, it is noticed that considerable more wear is taking place. This is to be taken up with the D.O. to give more load surface.
