MONTHLY REPORT ON CUSTOMERS' COMPLAINTS
BENTLEY 3.1/2 LITRE.

The most prevalent complaints are given in the following order :-

1) Brakes squeaking, thumps, and pulling uneven.
2) Knock & rattle from front axle controls.
3) Petrol pump noisy & leaking.
4) Oil leaking from rear axle tube flanges.
5) Noisy rear axle gears.
6) Clutches.
7) Knock in transmission road wheels driving dogs.
8) Dynamo defective, oil on commutator
9) Speedometer & Rev. counters defective.
10) Wilmot-Breeden Bumper knocks lead weights loose.
11) Steering box loose on frame
12) Crankshaft and connecting rod bearings.

1) BRAKES.

Brake troubles are general on Bentleys, Phantoms, and 25 HP. On the Bentleys the M R lining is more prone to squeak, the fabric being more effecient. The squeaks can be kept down to a minimum if the bedding is correct and the correct poundage maintained on the pilot shoes. The Depots have not paid sufficient attention to this; instructions to do so in the future have been given

Oil on the brakes, chiefly the front is still a feature which has been tackled many times but still remains.
