985 To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} From Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/ MJ.22.2.34. Replying to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/E.16.2.34. A 50 gall. barrel of this fuel was tried out by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} last October. The results did not justify us making any change. The reason this test was done by Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} was because we could not afford the time and had no interest in testing it. All the claims made for these different brands of petrol are more or less 'eye-wash'. If we confirm that our cars will run satisfactorily on the brands which are widely distributed this is all we can do.
