x1282 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} re Regent Petrol. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}7/E28.2.34 Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MJ.22.2.34 at the request of Lord Wargrave I have now had an interview with the Principals of the Firm who are marketing this petrol, and they are very much concerned at the information given to them in ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/GEA.8/EB. of the 29th January and ROY{Sir Henry Royce}/GEA.8/Vr{E. S. Voller - Orders} of the 31st January. Your memo. rather read as if these people were seeking to persuade us to adopt their petrol instead of Shell or whatever we use, but such is not the case. All they want is to know that we are satisfied that their petrol is satisfactory when used in our cars. Judging from Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}12/T18.12.33 and Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}19/T27.11.33 to ROY{Sir Henry Royce} this is not the case, and they would like to send their technical expert up to Derby to go into the matter. One holds no brief for them whatsoever other than that Regent Petrol is one of the very few that is a British Empire product and, therefore, I think we ought to go a little out of our way to try to clear things up. Can you depute some one to go into the matter with them if I arrange for their representative to come up to W.? Bg. | ||
