Rate of wear was one third that with present material. Also fitted to units No.14 and 16. This material is regarded as a temporary expedient owing to the increased cost. Unsuccessful attempts have been made to obtain lower quotations from BTH. We intend to try alternative suppliers with a view to getting lower quotations. When recommended for Introduction: Without scrap. Old Parts: Material £0. 7.5., Labour £0.2.6., Burden £0.4.4., Total £0.14.3. New Parts: Material £1. 2.3., Labour £0.2.2., Burden £0.3.9., Total £1.8. 2. Increase in Cost £0.13.11. GKH 2/1/38 Production Position and Comments Fabroil Grade 104/ Idler Gear is 13/11d more expensive than present moulded Grade A gear because it is machined from sheet and rivetted to the nub, resulting in increased material and labour cost as compared with the moulded design. The new gear can be introduced without scrap at 185th chassis in 'D' series and involves no Tool Cost. RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} Authorisation to Proceed. Introduce on the 185th Chassis in D Series. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Signature Date 1/3/38 Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Signature Date 1/3/38 | ||
