BENTLEY HEADLAMPS. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst4/MA.6.9.33. We note you have arranged with Lucas for the first six pairs of the new type X166 headlamps to be sent to you. We think it would be just as well for you to have the remainder of the first fifteen pairs, and we have consequently asked Lucas to send them to you immediately they are ready. We attach a copy of our letter to Lucas on the subject. We have not issued "standard" lamps for any of the Bentley chassis but we discovered, when at Park Ward's Works yesterday, that they had, for some reason unknown to us, assumed that the headlamps would be of the RB.{R. Bowen}170 SED. pattern and, without consulting us, fitted a pair of this pattern on the first car, B.15.AE, despatched to you on the 4th instant. We made it clear to them that they should not repeat this When in due course you return B.15.AE. to Park Wards, will you please see that the RB.{R. Bowen}170 SED. lamps go back loose in the car as they must be replaced in Park Ward's Stores. We have not yet issued our order for the type X166 head-lamps to Lucas as we are still negotiating with them over prices, but we will in due course deal with the matter as necessary and you need not worry yourselves about this part of the business.
