X.3743. REPORT ON 2.EX 5.2.20. TO 11.2.20.

X.3461.

Thursday 5.2.20. Had a very good run to-day from Arles to Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence. A very light piston knock on starting up which soon disappeared.

Friday. 6.2.20. To Hyeres and back in the morning. In the afternoon I commenced fitting the new shock absorber parts and managed to complete the one on the rear side. I found the new bracket for the axle was useless as the smaller of the two bolts was fully 1/32" too large for the corresponding hole in axle, so I straightened up the old bracket and fitted it up with the new large bolt in place of the one which hadbeen sheared off. To get the clearance between the connecting tube and luggage grid bracket I had to bend the long lever so that the ball end was turned towards the rear thus giving the effect of a shorter lever, but even now the connecting tube fouls the end of the spring and may give further trouble.

Saturday. 7.2.20. Work continued on shock absorbers. O.S. shock absorber much less trouble to fit up, and there is just a slight amount of clearance between connecting tube and spring. Leak from front T joint in top water pipe repaired.

Car oiled round thoroughly (No oil required in rear axle.)

X.3772. X.3438. Dynamo and fan belts both shortened (Spring loaded, adjustment very noisy again after shortening dynamo belt)

X.664. Distilled water pint in battery.. About 1.5 pints altogether in the six cells.

New tube fitted to spare wheel.

X.1163. Sunday. 8.2.20. Klaxon dismantled and both brushes found to be expanded at the outer ends causing
