W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Robotham,

In reply to your letter of December 6th., I understand from our Plating people that they are expecting to get your cylinder block in the vat on Thursday. This is absolutely the best they can do: it looks as if it may still 'miss the boat' as far as your extended test is concerned. Anyway, we will do our utmost and will deliver the block to you in one of our mileage cars as soon as it is finished.

It would simplify matters from our point of view if we plated three bores only in this block, which would of course mean your fitting oversize pistons in the other bores now that they have been bored out for plating. Would you consider this? The capacity of our plant is apparently only sufficient to deal with three bores of your size at a time, and there is considerable difficulty in doing the job in two separate set-ups. Will you please write and confirm the exact size to which you wish to finish the plated bores.

The remainder of your tappets are waiting for some new plant which is now practically finished being installed, and we should be able to produce some of these inside a fortnight.

Yours sincerely,

M.C.Wilks
