From E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Handwritten: v to hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} E1/M7.2.22. RE STRENGTHENED ROCKER ARM IN STEERING BOX. With reference to memo. By1/H4.2.22., I apparently misread Mr. Bailey's memos. giving particulars of the scrap involved in adopting the above, so I have taken the matter up again with Mr. Royce. I gathered that Mr. Royce was still of the opinion that this modification should be adopted immediately, but that the Works should accept the responsibility for the fact that there were enough finished parts for 630 chassis,(raising the cost of the scrap to £873) since Mr. Royce had always advised laying down chassis in batches of 100 at a time, only, except where small parts were concerned.
