re. 70-WJ. Baroda, India.

We have had some considerable correspondence with India with regard to the Piston knocks on the above car.

We are attaching [handwritten: to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'] copy of this memo. the latest report we have received from India, reference NRC{N. R. Chandler}15/G1.8.30. Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please show to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and afterwards hand to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} for noting. Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} then please return to me.

[strikethrough: inlet] It would appear from this as though the question of filters to the carburetters should have serious consideration, especially in cases where cars have to be used under the conditions referred to by NRC.{N. R. Chandler} I shall be glad to know what prospects there are of anything of this sort being done.

Possibly also the question of extra oil supply might be considered, [handwritten: retrospectively where required,]

[Handwritten note:]
q. Knocks in engine when cold - developing after being in use for some time is a general complaint. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}
