PHANTOM 11 CLUTCH.

We send herewith N.Scheme 2975, shewing a modification to the Phantom clutch in connection with the proposal to use the ferodo on the inner member. The suggestion is from Mr. Royce, and has for its object facilitating the setting of the position of the damper plate. This is the main scheme on the right of the drawing. On the left is shewn an alternative scheme which is similar to that which we understand the Americans use, originally derived from Lec. 2394. It appears to us that under the circumstances Mr. Royce's proposal is to be preferred.

It will be noticed that we have retained the slightly smaller diameter ferodo shewn on N.scheme 2967., which gives more space for the dust to collect on the outside, and also gives a greater space on the friction surfaces outside the ferodo. The holes to enable the dust to escape have also been increased.

These modifications are in accordance with requests from the Exp. Dept.
