We send herewith W. sch. 3588. shews a bottom tank and suspension for the B. 3. radiator which follows the design given on Lec. 3258., and which is intended as the final design, as well as being applicable to the mock-up chassis.

As a result of E's remarks regarding unequal expansion we have not cast the shutter carrier plate solid with the tank. The shutter bearing strip has to be separate, and in sections, to suit the shutter erection.

We have shewn the modified attachment of the shell to the new bottom tank, and the stiffening of the rear edge of the shell as used by Bentleys.

Assuming a spring thickness of 1.600, and a spring flat under full load, we find we have more clearance than we had imagined, and so have been able to increase the lower rubber of the suspension.

We are leaving it to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to make the suspension arms to suit whatever crossmember design they may use.

We would like to point out that since the model was approved and photographed we have moved forward the radiator approx: 3", and the appearance thereby is not so good.

If on the final design we could use a crossmember which would enable us to regain if only 1" of this amount, it would be well worth doing.
