-2- W.III NO.4 - Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (1) Try to repeat condition as rejected from 26.G.VI. (2) Run 1 hr. oil consumption and repeat test (1). (3) Remove pistons, scraper ring off one piston with poor bedding to be handed to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} to investigate and take up with makers. Production rings to be checked for the same trouble of no bedding adjacent to oil return slots. Remaining five scraper rings together with a new std. ring to have the bottom lands machined down by .004 on the diameter. The object of this is to increase pressure on top land to bed down quickly. In above condition repeat idling test, also the 1 hr. oil consumption. (4) Fit set of Bentley scraper rings and check oil consumption. Further tests on oil consumption and general over-oiling dependent upon the results obtained. (5) Shortened push rods with housing at top of tappet to be tried as soon as available in regard to push rod thrash. W.III No.9. This unit has no new parts other than the latest camwheel. Unit is for 29.G.VI and should be tested out accordingly, including:- (1) Power curve. (2) 1 hr. oil consumption and whether clear of over-oiling after idling. During run note whether any leak from rear bearing into clutch. | ||
