(3) Check gears for silence.
(4) Cure all leaks and generally tune up.

B.III NO.5 (15,000 miles).

Unit to be finally tested prior to fitting in B.B.V.
Tests required are:-
(1) Check power open exhaust and B.III silencer if Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} has any modification.
(2) Run 1 hr. oil consumption and note whether leak from rear bearing is cured, groove in the rear bearing having been deepened.
(3) Check whether clear of over-oiling after idling.
(4) All rockers are now equipped with Vandervell bushes and oil distribution on valve gear should be checked. Six of the rockers are fed at the base by an additional hole in the bottom of the shaft, purely for better lubrication of the W/M bushes.
(5) Check whether any push rod period.
(6) Determine maximum tappet clearance that can be run with to retain good standard of silence.
(7) Cure all leaks and faults and tune up engine.
(8) Timing gears to be quiet before passing off.

NO.5 TEST HOUSE.

B.60 Bed.

Progress and urge millwrights for tackle to install B.60 unit on Phantom III bed.
