Extract from letter to P+R X2065 Contd. -2- EFCR/T. 8.1.24. In our reservoir battery of eight cells, which you may have noticed in our laboratory, and which we use for starter motor tests, etc. (each cell really being three standard Exide cells in parallel), we contemplate installing eight single cells of larger capacity, say 200 ampere-hours, and we think that a suitable type of cell for this particular purpose would be a cell in a glass box, but sealed in at the top with the usual vent, the reason for this being that we do not want to have too much acid spray from this cell in the room. Or it might be sufficient to have entirely open cells and use oil on the surface. We thought perhaps you could quote us for a set of eight cells suitable for this purpose (not less than 200 ampere-hours). We should require terminals on every cell to enable us to take tappings without disturbing the more permanent connections. This could be done by means of links secured under the first nut and then the additional tappings under the lock nut. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
