Dear Mr. Hives,

Thanks for your letter of yesterday's date returning the Wolseley blue prints. I note you are going to now try a set supplied to you seven years ago. I hope you will be very careful to see that the set is full of castor oil as this may not be the case after such a long period and of course without this oil you would be wasting your time trying them.

If, as I presume is the case, they are chassis type you want to see after you have bolted them to the chassis that they are comparatively free on the upward movement of the horizontal arm (equivalent to the compression of the springs) with resistance on the downward movement of the horizontal arm (equivalent to the recoil of the springs) and that such resistance varies according to the setting of the valves. You should have this test carried out after bolting the Suspension box to the frame but before connecting up to the axle through the vertical connecting link as otherwise you might complete the fitting of the set and be testing a bad set.
