M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} | Starter Motor Failures. (a) Incorrect distance from pinion to flywheel. (b) Better balance of pinion springs. (c) Slightly damaged teeth. (d) More damaged than (c). (e) Damaged beyond repair. | S/fit packing washers to suit. S/fit 3 new springs. Trim up teeth. Also either (a) or (b) or both would be done. Turn round flywheel on crankshaft 60°. Q. | Failure of Rear Axle Thrust. The old thrust is liable to failure due to overload & new gears may be required if they are damaged. | S/fit new type of thrust bearings and - (a) Re-set Gears. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | Failure of Rear Axle Thrust. Due to wear of soft Distance Piece. | S/fit a new hardened distance piece which is also keyed to shaft. If gears are damaged they are replaced. | £7.15.2. £20.17.5. | Same as above but soft distance piece was fitted to about 375 Production cars, concurrently to about 100 further cars by R.D.
